Lucy qualified from the RVC in 1999 and worked in mixed-practice for 4 years before undertaking an internship and residency at the RVC. She worked as a lecturer in Small Animal Medicine at the RVC before moving to Anderson Moores Veterinary Specialists in Hampshire in 2010.
