David Calpin

David has been CEO at the British Veterinary Association since November 2013. He joined BVA from the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) where he held a number of senior management roles. During his civil service career David’s policy responsibilities included climate change, GM crops, sustainable land management and bovine TB. He spent two years working at the UK’s Permanent Representation to the EU in Brussels, and has also lived and worked in France, South Africa and Brazil. Prior to his civil service career, David worked for Barclays Bank.
