Diagnostic testing for canine hypothyroidism may seem complicated, confusing and frustrating. Different tests are available to evaluate thyroid performance in dogs, including triiodothyronine (T3), total thyroxine (TT4), free T4 (fT4), and thyroid stimulating hormone (cTSH). The decision as to which test(s) to perform along with proper test interpretation is crucial when evaluating thyroid status and accurately determining hypothyroidism in affected dogs.
