Producing order in the chaos - preparing for CPR
It is widely accepted that CPR is stressful and can be chaotic at times. The level of the chaos and stress is something that as a team we can take steps to minimise. Using some simple actions, like cognitive aids to support decision making. Plus, utilising simulations to highlight any pinch points or areas for improvement.
This session will explore a range of interventions, from the time the patient is admitted to the clinic to the moment they are discharged. Exploring areas such a low number of rescuers, communication changes or drug doses and finally considering how we can set ourselves up for success with analysing and auditing the set up. Providing attendees with realistic and relatable tips for restoring order in the often-chaotic CPR.
- •Attendees will be able to understand the common stressors in CPR and recognise the emotional impact that these have on teams.
- •List and utilise cognitive aids that will facilitate decision making during CPR
- •Consider the steps teams and practices can take to promote order during CPR, such as the use of simulations.
