Euthanasia, better a day too early than a day too late?

Delayed euthanasia was recognised as an overarching area of concern across all species from the AWF-funded project “Delphi Project – Expert consensus on animal welfare priority issues in the UK.” Reasons for delayed euthanasia are complex and difficulties in decision-making impact veterinary professionals, companion animal owners and of course, the animals. How do you make these decisions and is euthanasia better a day early than a day late?
