Enhancing the Clinical Career Pathways for the Veterinary profession

06 Jun 2024
Exhibitor Showcase 1

RCVS Council recently approved an ambitious project to expand and diversify the career options available to veterinary surgeons working in clinical practice.

The project includes three workstreams that have potential to be groundbreaking and lead to new clinical career routes and roles in the future for veterinary surgeons.

This short presentation will give you a summary of the three workstreams and our plans for the next two years.

This work will draw heavily upon stakeholder input, and we will be inviting the profession to engage with the work through focus groups, feedback and consultation at regular intervals.

In this session we will provide information about how you can get involved.

  • This session will enable delegates to:
  • •Understand the aims and objectives of the RCVS work to further develop clinical career pathways, i.e.
  • o(1) to develop a curriculum for veterinary GP specialty training,
  • o(2) to define roles and statuses in the profession and
  • o(3) to develop more flexible routes to specialisation.
  • •Understand how they can engage with and contribute to this important work.
  • •Hear a summary of the stakeholder focus group feedback received to date.
