Great Workplaces: Managing up and improving a toxic workplace

Despite much discussion in recent years, and a recognition that a supportive work environment delivers the best outcomes for the practice team, clients and their animals as well as the business, many veterinary workplaces are still beset by toxic cultures. Not enough focus is given to supporting and developing leadership skills in those leading teams. Sometimes, the most effective strategy in a toxic workplace is to manage up. As Michelle Obama famously said: "When they go low, we go high". This discussion promises to be lively.
