Whose responsibility is it anyway - the reality/complexity of dog, cat and horse ownership

11 Jun 2026
Business, Careers & Debates Theatre

Modern pet ownership is more complex than ever, with responsibilities shared and sometimes blurred between owners, vets, breeders, behaviourists, welfare organisations and policymakers. This panel will unpack the real‑world challenges behind caring for dogs, cats and horses, exploring where responsibilities  lie, why expectations often clash with reality and how we can work together to support better welfare outcomes.

  • Understand the legal responsibilities for owners of dogs, cats and horses
  • Appreciate the factors that might compromise ownership and animal welfare.
  • Consider how owners can work successfully with professionals to ensure the welfare off the animals they own.
