Cats and dogs requiring long-term hospital care present a unique challenge.
Animal health and welfare is essential for a successful recovery and optimising the quality of the hospitalisation experience, from the patient-perspective, is key to promoting positive treatment outcomes.
This session will explore how the veterinary nursing team can identify and best meet species-specific emotional,  cognitive, and physical hospitalisation needs.

  • - define and deconstruct the term enrichment
  • - explore species-specific emotional / cognitive / physical needs alongside the Welfare Domains Model
