My approach to non-healing corneal ulcers

11 Jun 2026
Clinical Theatre 1
Ophthalmology

When an ulcer hasn't healed at the first recheck, there is a tendency to throw up our arms and become frustrated. A few golden rules can help us to see that ulcers within this group have actually helped us out in some ways by identifying themselves as complicated ulcers; with only one of 2-3 causes still possible. This discussion will provide a logical approach to turning these potentially frustrating cases into medical success stories in dogs and cats.

  • To appreciate the multitude of causes of corneal ulcers
  • To adopt a logical approach to diagnosing the cause of ulcers
  • To learn treatment protocols for indolent ulcers
  • To learn treatment protocols for infected ulcers
