What makes the stream special?

The BVNA Nursing Theatre covers a variety of clinical and non-clinical topics for veterinary nurses at all stages of their careers. Whether your interests are in Emergency & Critical Care, Exotics, Anaesthesia or Leadership, you will find something in the programme for you!

Each year, the BVNA President sets an overall theme for their term. This year, Charlotte Pace’s theme is ‘Empowerment’ – both of ourselves as individuals, and the other people and wider team around us. The sessions taking place within the BVNA Nursing Theatre will achieve just that – whether building veterinary nurses’ confidence in their existing clinical skills, encouraging them to explore a new area of their professional practice, or helping them to utilise their experience to motivate and lead their nursing teams effectively.

Delegates will leave these sessions feeling inspired, supercharged, and ready to take new ideas straight back to their workplace.

11th May 11:55 – 12:45

calendarJack Pye – Ultrasound for veterinary nurses

Jack is becoming well known in the profession for encouraging veterinary nurses to try new skills and understand the value of working with ultrasound as a diagnostic imaging tool. Jack will help to demystify the legislation surrounding the use of ultrasound, to help you understand where its use fits within the RCVS Code of Conduct, and therefore where it can be used as a tool to benefit patient care.

12th May 14:20 – 15:10calendar

Kathryn Latimer-Jones – Veterinary nurses in leadership

We’re especially excited to hear Kathryn speak about leadership, as it’s an area of huge potential for veterinary nurses – but many enter leadership positions feeling underconfident and underprepared. Kathryn will help you to recognise how to untap your potential as a leader – and how this will apply to any situation where you are advocating for your patient, whether in a specific leadership position or not.
